Teen Court Adult and Youth Training for New and Experienced Volunteers!

The training we held on August 16th, 2008 was a huge success for Capital Area Teen Court. We had 45 youth attend the training and 10 adult volunteers. We began our morning meeting as a big group, discussing the dynamics of Teen Court and how it operates. Our youth volunteers, Andrew Copland and Jenny Sink assisted with the training.   The group watched a Teen Court mock trial video around 11am, which was created by our graduated youth volunteer, Ben Keith.

Everyone munched on pizza for lunch and after we finished eating, we began preparation for the Mock Trial. We broke up into two groups, led by our youth volunteers. The new volunteers were able to use the skills and knowledge that they learned earlier that day for the mock trial preparation and we held a mock trial in the late afternoon. All of our new volunteers did an excellent job! It was a huge success and we were very proud of all volunteers who came out and participated. I want to give special thanks to our staff, Tammy Wright and Temeshia Rivera.  Without their dedication and commitment, the training would not have taken place.  Also, special thanks to our very talented and dynamic youth volunteers, Jenny Sink and Andrew Copland!  To all of our new volunteers, we welcome you to the Teen Court Program and look forward to working with you in the future! .
